I purchase this printer after a couple of people recommended to me as being a good wireless printer and low cost/page. Well I have the printer now for about 6 months and I am having nothing but problems. At the beginning I though it was my old computer that was creating the problem, then I thought it was my router, but now I realize it was the printer. I purchase a new imac, a new mac router, and had the geek squad do the network set up. I was supposed to share the printer with my daughter's computer but so far I didn't have any luck. The squad came over my house for the second time, and I just call them again, and they told me to buy a new printer. The wireless for some reason does not get a strong enough signal, although my imac has 4 bars, and they are situated next to each other. We tried to hardwire the printer, and that is not working very well either. I constantly need to reboot, but then it is not working with both computers. Well now I have to purchase another printer. Total shame. They should test their products before putting them in the market.



Update: The cyan color stopped printing right after I wrote the above review. I called Lexmark, and the representative denied having heard of such an issue before. I told him to view the troubleshooting section on his website, and then he said: "Oh yeah......you can download some drivers and that should solve the problem." To make a long story short, the downloadable drivers did not work, lexmark does not want to deal with it, and Staples told me that they only accept returns within 30 days. Ironically the printer was not set up for 20 days since purchased because the Geeksquad had no earlier appointments available. By the time the squad came to troubleshoot my network issues, and figure out what is wrong with the printer it was already past the 30 day window. I am just wondering since when it became legal to reap people off like that?

This was such a great purchase that I convinced a friend to buy one. Printing is very simple, and ink is very inexpensive. The scanner works like a dream, either from the computer or the printer. I had a minor problem at set up (mostly my own doing) and tech support was the best I have ever dealt with. Solved the problem immediately, and even assisted in setting up the wireless function. I haven't found a thing I don't like about this product. Delivery from the supplier was half the time stated. If you're in the market for a multipurpose printer. This is the one. If this model is not available, step up to the "900" series. The best benefit is the minimal cost for ink purchased through Lexmark.

I recently purchased this some months back so I could upgrade my Lexmark printer downstairs so I'll have nothing but wireless printers thoroughout my house. Besides my only complaint of my previous printers was the astronomical price of the ink cartridges with very little ink in them.



We print alot in our house because my sister is a minister who is constantly printing off sermons and we can really go through some ink. As you well know if you purchase ink a few times you've more the quadrupled the price of the purchase for the printer itself in a few months which is awful. It makes no sense.



I've thought about the Kodak printer with the inexpensive ink cartridges but I didn't know about the quality. I knew that Lexmarks have never really failed me so when I found out they had an inexpensive ink program I jumped on it. Where I bought mine it costs more than their lesser models by about $40 but I knew that the price for the ink on those models would've put me in the same boat as before. I found that I was able to by a 4 pack of black ink averaging $4.50 per pack (less than the Lexmark website of $4.99 per cartridge). I was very impressed at the penny per page average *roughly yielding 500 pages of print. The 3 individual color cartridges also sold me since you can replace them for roughly $10 per cartridge and replace only the color that you NEED instead of an entire cartridge that has run out of only one of it's colors.





I didn't find any problems with the setup at all, although fitting the cartridges was a tiny bit tricky but nothing to cry over. It took more time for me to program the desktop and 3 laptops only because I had to do them one at a time. It averaged about 10 minutes per computer which is not bad at all. Having had this now for 2 1/2 months I've got to say that I love it! The bonus 5 year warranty and free tech support is wonderful too. Not to mention compatibility with Windows 7! Yay!!!



It's LCD screen is very simple to use. The touch panel with the pictures is so easy that my niece's kids ages 6-8 have no problems printing things off for me. (They're not really needed since it's wireless but it keeps them busy).



Don't hesitate in buying one of these but remember that the special economy ink program is only with the higher end Prestige, Pinnacle and Platinum models so make sure to double check that the one you're thinking of purchasing has the ink program if you're pinching pennies.

I took a USB stick with some pictures on it to a store to compare the printing. I printed the same picture on all three printers using the same photo paper. The Epson's printout looked terrible in comparison to the HP and Lexmark and was quickly ruled out. I saw the Lexmark and HP as nearly equal in most aspects, so it came down to ink cost and Lexmark's $5 black ink cartridges swayed me. I did also print out a text document and found no noticeable difference in quality.



I found the printer's setup to be simple and completely painless. Perhaps other printers have easier setup processes, but I was not bothered one bit by Lexmark's process.



There has only been one true problem so far with the printer. About two weeks after purchasing the printer, text printing became VERY poor. I was really worried that I had made the wrong decision with this printer. However, I ran the support software that came with the printer and it first had me run the inkhead cleaning process. That did not work, so it had me run the "deep cleaning" process and thankfully, text printing has been wonderful ever since.



I am not a printer or photo guru, but I have printed numerous pictures and been completely satisfied with all of them.



The only flaw I have found so far is the instruction manual. In it is stated that multiple pages can be scanned into one document file. However, it does not say how to do this and whenever I scan multiple pages, each page comes up as a separate file. I will be contacting Lexmark very soon in attempt to solve this problem.

I purchased this because I needed something that I could travel with and print while on the road. This printer fit the bill perfectly. Set up was very simple and I was up and printing in under 30 minutes, including the time needed to unpackage it.

Print speed is a bit slower than what I am used to, but that is to be expected on something like this. Print quality is very good for an inkjet printer although I did have a bit of an issue with the right margin when I was printing a boarding pass. I think TSA has seen plentry of these because they did not bat an eye when I sent it through the scanner.

I do recommend removing the battery when traveling because pressure on the closed paper tray can turn the unit on and drain your battery and if you use the travel case that you can purchase separately, the battery sticks out of the back of the case and you'll want to remove it anyway.



All in all a decent printer that can definitely fill the need of someone who must have a printer while traveling.

I had my own experience with HP printers a few years ago and vowed to never buy another. But this one was a gift for a friend and this is the one he really wanted. I tried to set it up and the cartidge lights kept flashing and the carriage would not position itself where ink cartidges could be inserted. After waiting for this to stop (all night) I contacted HP support. Hours of e-mail exchanges later they admitted that it was bad out of the box. The next day they phoned and wanted to know where to ship a refurbished replacement. Am I missing something here? A printer that I've had for 36 hours and that has never had ink in it should be swapped for a refurbished one? Hey, on second thought, what a great business model! Sell "new" products at top prices, knowing they don't work. Replace them with old used crap and pocket the difference. Brilliant!

I liked this Canon all-in-one printer a lot. I am a very non-tech person, and I was able to read the directions and set it up myself. I own a Mac Powerbook, and while I can troubleshoot a few minor things, that's about it. As I worked my way through the instruction pages it went surprisingly smoothly, and the illustrations provided by Canon really helped. Even though I got temporarily caught when I didn't have the MX340 on while trying to install the ink cartridges I was able to determine the problem with Canon's clear instructions.



Like with the Canon MX340, the instruction manual is well-illustrated and explained in a clear manner that made hooking up the printer a straightforward process. It took me only a half hour to install the software, and that includes the time I spent registering.



For me, the quality of the printing and the speed of the printer is good - I do not use this printer for professional reasons. I had a HP all-in-one before this, and although the print may have had a slighter higher quality resolution, the HP used up ink way too quickly. I do not think that's the case with this Canon although I have to use it more to find out. The cost of ink replacement is obviously an important issue.



Note that you can get the Canon MX340 for less money, and to me it seems like the same product, minus a LCD screen. If that is important to you, then you should go with this newer model. Otherwise, that may even be the better deal.



Recommended, especially for the price.

Having owned an MX850 and MX860, I was a bit apprehensive about the MX350 being too home-oriented for someone as self-important as I am. Surely, you can't get a decent printer at this price, Canon or not.



Canon proved me wrong.



With the previous experience, setting up the MX350 to work on my home network was pretty straightforward. I'm using three Macs and a Windows 7 machine in my house, and anticipated that Canon would put ancient drivers on their installation disc. Not willing to chance it, I downloaded the latest software from Canon's site, and was on my way in a matter of minutes.



If you're planning to skip the disc, and use a Mac, you'll want to install the IJ Network Tool first, to reduce frustration. From there, go with the driver, and then the MP Navigator software. Trust me, you'll skip a lot of frustration this way, if you're not using the disc.



As expected, the text output was "cheap laser" quality, if not a touch better. Scanning was surprisingly quick, for text and simple graphics. Not surprisingly, doing any sort of higher-res photo scanning is on the slow side, though the image quality is better than acceptable for most home users. Printing out photos produced better than expected results, though not without some edge bleeding even on decent-quality paper.



One thing you may be contemplating is whether to go with the MX350 or Canon PIXMA MX340. If you're trying to decide between the two, here's the only difference I found after a side-by-side comparison: the MS340 doesn't have an LCD screen.



What's the LCD screen worth? That really depends. If you're planning on connecting your camera directly to the MX350, it definitely makes it easier to find your pictures (assuming your camera isn't capable of displaying the pictures when connected to a PictBridge-capable device). On faxing and scanning, the on-screen instructions can also be helpful to less technical users. Ultimately though, they're both solid printers that are a steal if you're going to use the scanner and / or fax.

I just replaced a Canon MP350 with this model as it had stopped working properly and was too expensive to fix. I have only started using this today and though I preferred my old one, this one suits my needs. This model is very good on the regular printing of documents, and the scanning and copying work well. On the downside, it is much noisier than the old one, even on the night setting, and the photo printing is abysmal. The Canon MP350 had a lot of ink tanks, and that was becoming way too expensive and I made a conscious decision to buy this newer model knowing it would most likely print terrible pictures, and it does. I have another HP printer that was cheap and does great pictures - so I was not concerned. If you are looking to print a lot of photos, then don't buy this model, go with one with more ink cartridges, they work much better. The picture quality on this one is dreadfully washed out and not at all sharp. If you just want a simple fax, copier and printer - this is excellent and the ink cheaper than the old one - if you plan on doing loads of photos, don't bother, look elsewhere. For what I want this printer to do, it is very good and suits my needs - I mainly print text, copy and scan documents so for that it is excellent.

My ancient HP G5 All-In-One finally croaked, so I ordered one of these. I didn't really expect it would be any good considering how cheap it is, but I have been pleasantly surprised. The construction is really excellent, and it looks a lot better than most of the flimsy competition I looked at from HP and the rest. There aren't any floppy pieces dangling off it waiting to get broken. I am using it with an iMac 30" running OS X 10.6.3.



Setup was fairly straightforward using the wireless connection. The manual takes about 50 pages to get round to telling you that all you need to do is hit the menu button on the printer and find the LAN sub-menu, then choose the network and enter the password. The software for the iMac pretty much installs itself.



The included software is good. This is usually a problem with Macs and printers/scanners, but not this time. The scanner will scan straight into Mail, or into your Pictures folder, in jpg, tiff, or pdf. The scans are excellent, much better than the stand-alone HP Scanjet I paid $300 for not so long ago. Print quality is quite good, and reasonably fast, but I really got this for scanning and faxing, with just light duty printing when I don't want to walk over to the laser printer.



I am still laughing to myself over the insane value this represents. I honestly can't remember ever getting such a great piece of gear so cheap. It cost more to buy the Airport Express that hooks it to the LAN. I have never posted a review on Amazon before, but this machine is just so great that I had to.

This is the first printer I've bought that wasn't an HP. It is a wonderful product and so far, I'm very impressed with it. It was fairly easy to set-up so that was a plus. The print quality is great and I really like the lower cost of the ink cartridges (HP cartridges have gotten expensive). The other features work great from copying, scanning and faxing. The only thing that was a little unexpected is that the printer itself is bigger in size so it needs a little more space (it's more square than rectangular). It's a great value for the money and the quality is great.

Some clever design features on this excellent printer, not the least of which is the solid-in-repose top that won't break when my cat jumps on it. Easy to set up, when I paid careful attention. Very satisfactory print quality. And the fax is so fast and easy, I actually sent my first fax three times because it went _so_ fast, I thought it hadn't transmitted after all!



I bought the MX870 based on the reviews after spending two hours on customer service chat with HP, pleasant but not useful in fixing my second 4-in-1 to break down on only its second cartridge. Can't believe it took so long to wean me off HP, but glad I finally smartened up.

All right, perhaps this is not the world's greatest, but it is close to perfection! This met all my needs for printing, scanning and copying like no other printer ever did, all for $129 at Costco. Here are the details that I was impressed by:



1. Scan to PDF or JPG - this is essential nowadays, with so many requests for scanned copies of important documents in PDF format, as well as photos in JPG format.



2. Continuous Form Feed - this works excellently, enabling one to copy or scan a whole set of sheets at the touch of a button.



3. Ease of use - almost everything that needs to be done is intuitive, and there's not a single thing that appears complicated.



The setup took some time, but that was it - everything else is an A++!

This is my third all-in-one since the category was introduced in the 1990's. My previous two were both HP. With the purchase of this Canon machine I was replacing an HP C6180 which was 3 years old. The HP machines I've had were both slow and very noisy and the scanning software was buggy. So I was generally dissatisfied with the HP equipment, but the issue that brought about the replacement was a clogged print head. After several support calls with HP, I finally got to a technician who knew enough to conclude the print head was clogged and needed replacement. When I asked for a referral to a repair facility, or the number for an HP repair depot, I was told "These machines are not designed to be repaired, they are designed to be replaced and recycled." I asked to speak to a manager, and when he called back a day later I was told the same thing. So I called the office of the CEO of HP in California, and was referred to another organization who said the same thing. Then I called a local independent printer repair shop and was told "the print heads in the HP all-in-ones are not replaceable, and that I should consider buying a new machine. For want of a $0.10 print head, the entire device had to be scrapped. Now Eco-friendly is that ?!?!?!?



Since I was generally dissatisfied with the HP all-in-one's I had owned I decided to temper my brand bias and research the field and make an informed decision based on other user reviews. This lead me to Epson and Canon. The newer HP equivalent replacement model I tried at an Office Depot and it was as slow and noisy as my previous two HP machines. While there, I looked at the Epson models, and while I liked their photo printing capability, I was more interested in low-duty-cycle printing and not having to scrap the machine when the ink dried out when I was traveling. The Epson machine does not have a replaceable print head, and I had read a review here on Amazon that the Canon machine did have a replaceable print head. So sight unseen, I ordered the Canon.



The reviews are correct when they give high praise to the Canon Pixma line. I have been delighted with the performance and it's significantly less noisy than all the others. What really has impressed me is the scanning with the automatic document feeder - it's flawless. The HP could never scan more than 3 pages with the ADF without the software crashing or the wireless connection faltering and creating errors. With the Canon, it has worked like a dream and in less than an hour I've scanned in twenty years of income tax returns - something that would have taken a day to accomplish with the HP.



Setup was easy and the wireless connection worked from the first try. I've used the machine now to fax, scan, copy and print and I'm very satisfied. During installation I discovered that the print head is indeed separate - you have to install it as part of the ink cartridge installation, and it's offered as a spare part that the user can easily replace. Printing is about twice the speed as the HP machine I tried in the store that's in the same price bracket.



I have not tried using this printer for photo finishing. I have a high end Epson I use for that which handles 11x17 inch media. My guess is the Epson is better for photos because it has more ink colors and they are generally known as the photo printing leader. But the ink cartridges are more expensive to replace since there are more colors involved.



I would also comment that the software for the Canon machine comes with the device and needs installation. I'm using a Mac and support for the Epson and HP machines is part of Snow Leopard operating system. But the software installation was easy and the Apple OS discovered that there was an update for it and downloaded it and installed it automatically without a hitch. The only thing I would like to see added or improved would be an ability to fax directly from the computer (HP supports this, Epson and Canon don't). But this is a minor issue compared with having a machine that in all daily use categories exceeded my expectations by a large margin. It's still is astounding to me that such a useful and functional piece of equipment as this is under $200. After this experience, my brand preference for inkjet office printers/scanners is now Canon.

I had a Cannon Printer for the last several years, My wife took it over for her pre-school projects. I tried a cheap printer B's, terrible. So I went back to tried and true Cannon and it is even better than the previous one. The pictures were so good, the print is very clear. You can't go wrong.
