"Ease of use is a huge plus" 2010-05-17
By J. Marsala (Harbor City, CA)
We recently used this printer for a scrapbook guest book at a wedding. We took pictures of the guests, took out the memory card, inserted it into the photo printer, and was able to print the photos at the wedding for the guests to create a personalized scrapbook page for the bride and groom. The printer was real easy to set up, and required no additional software or a computer to use. Replacing the ink and paper was likewise real easy. It did take about a minute for each picture to print, but the photos looks gorgeous. Definitely recommended.

 "Love it" 2010-04-07
By Josephine (Cranford, NJ United States)
I researched a lot before buying this printer. The main reason I went with this is because it was so compact and the price to print pictures (paper and ink) was a lot cheaper than other printers out there. The printing is easy and the quality is also great. I was amazed with the first picture I printed. I would recommend this printer to anyone.

 "Nice little photo printer" 2010-03-26
By K. Russell
My Canon CP100 photo printer finally died after 8 years. I was happy with it and decided to buy the latest version of the same style of printer. I'm printing again and am just as pleased with the new model as I was the old one.

One reason I bought this was the fact that it took the same printer supplies as my CP100. I still had plenty left and it was nice I could use them with the new printer. First thing I noticed was how much faster CP780 prints. The CP100 took twice as long to spit out a print. Of the new features, I like having the option of printing from flash memory cards and having a display screen to see what you are printing is a needed plus. It is also nice to have the option to add a battery pack - although I doubt I'll ever spring for the cost of the battery.

I found the new printer had the same problem as my old printer. The prints came out on the dark side. But as I did for the CP100, I went into the printer properties and bumped up the brightness a tad -- and now the prints pretty much match the brightness of what I see on my computer screen.

The print software seemed a bit dummied down and "child" oriented. The software that came with the CP100 did not have some of the "fun" stuff (frames, calendar format, quote bubbles, etc) - but it did offer a more full-featured set of options to correct and touch up images before printing. The "auto-correct" feature in the Selphy software is insufficent. Plus, the old software offered several print layouts not available in the new software (i.e. printing multiple photos/index shots on one print). IMO - the newer software should be more full-featured than the older software. I was surprised to see that they actually provided less useful software with their new product.

Overall - I'm very pleased. This printer cost me about 1/2 what I paid for the CP100 and yet I still get the same great prints (and faster). The cost of the ink/paper packs has come down a lot, too. It used to cost 75 cents per print. Now, if I catch a good on-line deal for a triple pack (108 card size prints), prints cost just 26 cents each. My prints from 8 years ago look as good today as they did when they were printed. Some inkjet photos I printed have faded over the same period of time. I consider this printer an essential companion to my digital camera.

"I love and ADORE this printer!!" 2010-03-22
By Michelle (Los Angeles, CA)
Ok, so I bought the Polaroid PoGo first, because I'm a professional face painter, and wanted to print a photo of each person after I painted them, and put it in a magnetic frame that they can take home and hopefully stick on their fridge forever (because the frame has my contact info on it!)

The PoGo, which I'm now convinced is the abbreviation for "Piece-Of-Garbagey-Obsolescence" jammed on my second print, and was streaking every other photo. This was IN ADDITION to the fact that the pics were grainy and dark, which I was prepared for. When I paint faces, I typically have a huge line for the duration of the party, and do not have time to putz around with the (expletive deleted) printer, ya' know?!

So I returned the Piece-Of, and bought this Canon Selphy. Lemme tell you, what a DREAM come true! Every print is sharp, crisp & clear. It's operation has thus far been flawless. The setup was smooth. I bought a Duracell battery pack/inverter, and plug my little Selphy into it, which means I can paint faces at the beach or in the park and print my photos immediately! I'm in photo printer heaven! At around $0.30 each, I just figure this is part of my marketing budget, which added to the frame is about a dollar each, and is given to a person whom I already know likes and can use my services. Thanks, Canon, for your superior product, solving my problem, and for NOT foisting upon us yet another perhaps well-conceived but poorly executed "Piece-Of", as some of your aforementioned competitors have!
