"Buyer beware - low quality prints" 2010-05-11

I purchased this printer based mainly upon reviews posted here. The print quality is definitely NOT 1200dpi, let alone 600dpi, as the settings in the options say. The print quality is fine for text, but images look awful. We will be stuck with this garbage until the toner runs out. it's fine for printing out quick documents or Google map directions, but forget illustrations or images. BUYER BEWARE. I plan to take this printer to a local certified repair shop to confirm that the print quality is really this poor; perhaps the printer I received is defective.

"Bummer, I really wanted this to be an awesome purchase..." 2010-05-09

I print postcards so I need a printer that has the ability to print without bending the paper. At such a low price I thought this would be a fantastic purchase and it was for the first 1,000 postcards, after that it would get jams every once and a bit. Up to 2,000 postcards printed and now I am getting jams with every other postcard, drats. I am sure it works well with 20lb paper but with postcards, forget it, look for something else.

 "Basic, reliable printer" 2010-05-05

This is a small, effective printer. Although it has few additional features, it does well with printing, which is all I needed it to do.

I have used this printer for several weeks and have printed over 500 pages. The printer software has been warning me that the ink cartridge (the introductory one) will need to be replaced, but so far I have noticed no difference in the print quality.

 "Bang for the Buck!" 2010-04-23

This is an entry level B&W laser printer that does nothing but print black and white. For the price, it does a pretty decent job at that. With that said, the printer does not accept custom paper feed such as envelop, and will tend to have paper jam if you have some type of wrinkles. Otherwise, it's a great bang for your buck! Good buy! If you are a student like me, who needs to print tons of articles and paper and is in need of a relatively inexpensive printer. This is it! In addition, I find the price of replacement toner to be relatively tolerable too.

 "Really great printer!!" 2010-04-14

I bought this printer at the start of my freshman year of college and now that my year is almost up, my printer is still living strong. I'm still using the tester cartridge it came with. I did some guess-timation and I think I've printer about 800-900 pages so far. Just today the toner light was blinking yellow but I'm sure I can squeeze out a dozen more pages before the year ends. A lot of kids who live on my floor flock to me to use my printer, which comes to be a great annoyance. I think the life of my toner would have been double if not for them. Before buying a laser printer, I went through 3 HP inkjet printers and they were all about the same price of this Brothers laser printer. I bought mine from staples for 60 dollars. Though the toner is a bit (only a little bit) more expensive, in the long run you'll save more money. When I had my color inkjets, I had to buy a cartridge for every color that was running low, and that racked up about thirty or more dollars every few weeks. Really if you bought this printer on sale like I did, it feels like its worth more than what you paid for.
