"Well made, secure, and feature rich" 2010-07-20
By Bob N. Johnson
We bought the S200 2G version, but thought this review would help all Ironkey buyers.

Obviously this device is not inexpensive, but if you want added security then this is the best. The key is very easy to use; because the key will self-destruct after only 10 failed attempts a password of moderate strength is all that is required. The on-board Identity Manager is a very good App, but did not transfer all of my passwords from Roboform, which I highly recommend. I installed Roboform2Go. Roboform2Go is resident on the key, it produces random passwords and has its own encryption, giving 2 layers of encryption for passwords and safenotes, another great feature. Would have given the Ironkey 5 stars if the included Identity Manager worked better.

The on-board version of Firefox is not only more secure, but with a password manager everything needed to more safely do business on the web is always available. All of this still leaves plenty of room to store sensitive financial and personal identity documents and information. And all of this is unavailable as soon as the key is locked and removed from the computer.

Finally a portable and secure password keeper, document vault, and browser.

BTW, also recommend adding the BetterPrivacy add-on to help keep the key clean. BetterPrivacy removes LSO's (Local Shared Objects); LSO's are very similar to cookies, but are not removed by Firefox.

From Wikipedia:

"LSOs can be used by web sites to collect information on how people navigate those web sites even if people believe they've restricted the data collection.[4] More than half of the internet's top websites use LSOs to track users and store information about them.[5] There is relatively little public awareness of LSOs, and they can usually not be deleted by the cookie privacy controls in a web browser.[5] This may lead a web user to believe a computer is cleared of tracking objects, when it is not.[5]"

"Short term - great; long term - no" 2010-09-18
By Lisa S (NH, USA)
We bought this exactly two years ago. It has been a great little home printer. I print about one page/day on average. It does use a fair amount of ink, but a printer is only an ink delivery system, right? Two weeks ago I would have given this model 4 1/2 stars. However....I turned it on one day and it simply would not print and the paper would feed halfway through and stop. My husband and I put probably four hours into it trying to figure it out. We tried everything and between us we are pretty good figurers. The HP Solution Center that comes with the software seemed to answer everything but our situation. Finally, I had time to call HP's 800-number. I was quite pleased to get a live person very quickly. But then I realized her English knowledge was very limited and who knows what country she was in. She asked me if I had tried about three very minor things, which I had. Then without going particularly deep into "here's what you can try to fix it," her training had obviously told her to stop there and give me this great answer: we'll give you a discount on this particular new model and it will only cost you $80 (later I saw Amazon sold the same thing for $55). I told her I really like the printer and want to get it fixed. It boils down to this....if it is out of warranty, it goes to the dump. I told her how environmentally irresponsible it is of HP to operate this way. I doubt she understood me because she only kept repeating the $80 offer. I told her she had done a good job, but I was very unimpressed with HP. My husband pulled the D4360 apart more since we had nothing to lose and found broken plastic gears. It is toast. So short-term, it's a good printer; long-term, America will have a lot of printers in its landfills.

"Just right for simple souls!" 2010-04-24

We can't buy enough of these printers! We are using 2 and have 2 on the shelf for back up, and my husband just asked me to order 2 more... just in case. We are simple souls and don't want all the bells and whistles. Fancy printers die so quickly; been there, done that. This workhorse just keeps on printing. If you want a simple printer for word processing, spreadsheet, and the internet, this is the Rock Star! Look elsewhere for the frustration of top of the line models. And, talk about cheap!!

"Too much software!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Caused me a service call!!" 2010-03-28
By T. Stehr (Bethlehem, PA USA)
Well, I am mostly pleased with the printing although the "draft" mode produces funky looking (almost like italics)lines of print interspersed throughout the documents. The printer is also rather finicky with regard to feeding paper. The paper which I was using successfully in my old HP and Canon printers will not feed in the D4360; fortunately I had a pack of HP paper which feeds very well. The ink supply does seem to be going down rather quickly; although I haven't really printed enough sheets to comment on ink usage.

Now for my BIG complaint. About 4 weeks after I installed my HP D4360, my computer slowed to a crawl, and then it would not allow me to do anything. I could not open my Word or Excel documents nor access email. Since the printer had been installed 4 weeks before, I never suspected it as the cause of the problem. I hired a computer service man to find out what was causing my problem. After finding out that my temp register had over 32,000 files, we deleted them; my computer started working again. But where did they come from? The temp register started filling up again!! ...16,000 files in a few hours! To make a long story longer, we discovered an HP file (hpqtra08.exe) constantly running in the background ..... creating temp files. I called HP tech support, and they told me I could uninstall the HP Digital Imaging software, and that would get rid of hpqtra08. I was told that this software was for the scanner in an all-in-one printer. They had no good reason as to why HP downloaded this software for my D4360 since it has no scanner. Nor did they seem inclined to offer me anything to help defray the cost of a service call which cost more than the printer. Well, now I got that off my chest!

If you do buy a HP D4360 and start having computer problems, I hope this is helpful. HP D4360 DeskJet Printer

"Not for use with Mac" 2010-07-03
By Sara D (CA United States)
This printer worked for about a year before it began printing horizontal lines and later not responding at all to print requests. It stopped working with OS 10.5 and never worked with OS 10.6 Do not recommend for a Mac.

"HP misleads customers: the 1505 does not work with a MAC" 2010-05-27
By A teacher (Provo, UT)
I frankly feel HP is guilty of deceptive advertising. The box states the printer is compatible with Mac OSX. The printer would not print at all with the driver it was shipped with. Like others, I called HP tech support and was told to download the latest driver. Now it prints sometimes, but sometimes it only prints horizontal lines.

I have limped along like this until the "intro" toner cartridge has run out (another rip off). I will throw it in the trash and buy another brand.

"Works fine on Mac with Snow Leopard OS X 10.6" 2010-03-20
By Localboy (Fort Worth, TX United States)
The HP P1505 LaserJet was a replacement for my ancient HP LaserJet 5MP that I couldn't get to print reliably under OS X 10.6 which dropped Localtalk support. I tried using a parallel-to-USB connector but the print queue would stall out half the time so I decided an upgrade was due.

I noticed several reviews of this printer that made me worried that it might not work with my late 2009 iMac even though HP claims it is compatible with OS 10.6. However, the sale price at a local office supplies chain was so compelling I thought I would take the chance. Set-up turned out to be simple plug and play guided by diagrams attached to the packaging, which is good because it doesn't come with a printed manual (there is a PDF manual on the included CD-ROM I noticed later). But not to worry, the 1505 printed immediately, both connected directly to my desktop by USB and by WiFi through USB print sharing from my Macbook. The print speed and print quality are quite excellent. My only disappointment has been that the printer is kind of noisy but it's super fast so the noise doesn't last long. All in all, this printer has turned out to be an excellent value.

 "HP P1505 Laserjet printer" 2010-01-30
By David Oldis (LINWOOD, NJ United States)
I have had this printer for about a month. So far I love it. It replaced another laser jet printer (non-HP). This one is much faster and quieter. Print is crisp and clear. I haven't replaced the toner cartridge that came with it yet and I've used it quite a bit. Original cartridge must print about 1,000 pages or so. I have ordered a replacement from Amazon. I received a cartridge from Amazon but i must have ordered the wrong one. So as a caution I would suggest double-triple-checking before you get a replacement toner cartridge because HP has several similar named printers. Too bad they don't use the same names for toner cartridges as they do for the printers.

There is another version of this printer with an "n" for Network in it's name. I did not get that and yet i can still print to this printer from my other two computers, just so my main computer which this one is hooked up to is turned on. Saved about $50. I highly recommend this printer.

"Horrible, got worse, never worked" 2010-07-17
By william borg (chicago, IL United States)
Well, this was fun. First, Amazon listed as "in stock". Then I was told there would be a delay. OK, no big deal.

------------------------------------------------------------------

I go to set it up, there are little pieces of paper taped everywhere, cautions about this, cautions about that. One sheet of paper actually said how terribly important it is not to put the printhead in incorrectly(at least that's what I think the illustration was showing). Then, this disclaimer: your stuff might not look exactly as shown in the diagram. That's not comforting, this is critical info, and I should rely on the diagram to avoid damage, but the diagram may not be what I have?

---------------------------------

OK, this is upsetting, but I go forward. I think some of the instructions were a bit cryptic, difficult to follow, but if you really thought it through, and were patient, you'd understand what they were saying.

----------------------------------------------

Now--the fun part. The software refuses to recognize that the printer is attached, properly to the PC. Help files tell you to choose "try again" if things fail. You can try till heck freezes over, ain't gonna work. Solution #2 is to restart the PC, which I did a couple times. Of course, there's no way out of their brilliant, non-functional software, one must call up the task manager to end the lousy, nonfunctional installation.

-------------------------

As an extra added fun bonus, when you do restart, you'll be treated to a screen that gives you all kinds of printing options. Really? I thought the installation had failed. Sure it did, so when you click on all these "options", you'll be told something about the printer not being recognized. How dumb is this software?

----------------------------------

Its now almost 4A, I thought I'd be done quite some time ago. Turns out, I'll never be done. Now I get to ship it back, hope I get a refund.

I should mention I'm using Win7, and this printer is advertised as being Win7 compatible.

---------------------------------

I tried both solution #1, and solution #2, as recommended by the "help" file in this set-up software. I tried a different USB port on my PC, I unplugged and replugged the USB connection at the printer. No go. I tried a second USB cable, I tried everything.

--------------------------------------------------------

I tried uninstalling/re-installing multiple times.

I didn't wanna wait for Monday to call Canon. If their customer support is as bad as their instructions, no thank you. Another reviewer here said they received a replacement printer after calling Canon. And they received a refurbished printer, with a warranty of only 30 days. So, that customer was punished for Canon's mistake. They endured frustration, they patiently waited for the replacement. But they paid for a NEW printer, not refurbished, and they PAID for a one year warranty. This sounds grossly unfair.

-----------------------------------

ADDED 18July2010: After discussion with someone else, I realized that maybe this was in trouble from the start. The "carriage" or "trolley", that part that holds the printhead and cartridges, would not stop in a place that was suitable for installation of both printheads and cartridges. I started/restarted printer several times(this is an early step, you don't have the printer connected to a PC at this point).

After several tries with the "on"(green) button, the trolley stopped at a place that was suitable for insertion of printhead/cartridges.

---------------------------

About 6A, I checked w/Amazon, they said it would be picked up the next business day. The only troubling thing is that I'm supposed to include the packing slip--but there was none. I'll include a note, instead, I guess.

----------------------------------

The best I can hope for is that UPS comes and gets it, then Amazon returns my money. At best, I walk away losing about 7 hours of frustration and unpacking, packing. I guess that Canon figures my time is free, whereas if they actually had to pay a quality control person, that would cost them money.

Since shipping is free(for me), and return shipping is free(for me), somebody's losing money on this.

----------------------------------

Amazon was told, through their site, Sunday morning that I wanted to return printer, UPS picked it up Monday, Weds, I got a refund. At least that part went ok. It was all a terrible waste of time.

The product was delivered in a box with no product packaging, no styrofoam pacing and all the components loose. There was another delivery label under the one with my address and it was obvious that it had been sold to another customer first who had unpacked it and decided to return it and it was then just sent off to me without Amazon even checking the contents. I will never buy anything from Amazon again. It's a miracle that the printer works at all.

 "New owner" 2010-07-13
By Candice Holdaway (USA)
I bought this last week, received it yesterday via UPS. Delivery time seemed longer than I'd expected, but not out of line. The box itself was larger than I'd expected as well, given the size of my last HP desktop printer. Set up was easy enough, though the size of the printer was a bit of a challenge since it wouldn't fit where I'd intended to locate it. I juggled a few things in the office, though, and it hooked up easily enough. Software installation went without a hitch as well, and it is now up and running. The printer required about ten minutes to get through the print head alignment, test page stage of things, and seemed very noisy throughout. The cautionary note on the first sheet printed said it wasn't unusual to hear "clicks" during this stage, but it did not warn of the whirling, print head sliding from side to side, etc. Once that was all taken care of, it ran the sample page at the punch of a button and has been fine since then. If it operates as smoothly as the other HPs I've owned, I don't expect there to be any difficulties. I will add to this review if I find I'm disappointed down the line, but so far so good.

 "Don't Buy this Printer" 2010-06-27
By W. Eichinger
I bought this printer 6 months ago. It has worked ok. My biggest complaint is that the print quality wasn't up to that of most of the printers that I have owned.

Today, I go to use it, and the entire contents of all four print cartridges is spread over the inside of the printer. It is a sticky, colorful mess. Even if I could get it all apart, is it even cleanable? It is definitely gummed up. Worse yet, looking around on line (I got a manual only for the wireless installation, not the printer itself), this has happened to others. Hp's answer seemed to be look in the manual for help. Not acceptable.

I can't recommend this printer. Even if this had not happened, the print quality isn't there.

We bought the printer for our Linux box and were happy to see how easy it was to use it as a networked printer with our Windows 7 media center PC. Duplexer was great for printing some wedding programs but sometimes will pull back and mangle the paper after correctly printing everything on one side. Turned off duplexing on Linux box for now. Happy overall.

"Will not print number 10 envelopes, paper jams frequent" 2010-06-02
By B. Rowe
This printer is marketed as a business printer but cannot print standard #10 business envelopes without jamming. The HP tech support guy said it is necessary to remove the paper from the tray before inserting envelope (not so with the several HP printers I have owned in the past) and even then, it jams unless I send through an envelope that has already been licked shut. HP sent me a replacement printer, and the problem was the same. The printing guide is inadequate, as it does not even show where to place the envelope -- I had to try different positions, and finally confirmed with the technicians that the right side of the empty tray is where they should be placed.

Bought this printer to replace my HP 2510 AIO. Great product overall. Only problem i had was similar to the issue I had with my 2510. The scan function and sending the item to a pc on the network is kinda iffy when the computers are connected wireless. With the PCs I have hardwired, no issues at all. Configuration was effortless also with almost no PC interaction. No issues at all when the printer found my network opposed to the 2510. Will recommend.

"If only it arrived in one piece !" 2010-07-21
By C. D. Church (Jersey City, NJ USA)
Honestly ... someone should be fired at the packing facility! This item was returned twice due to the packing problems. And guess what ? The new/exchanged item is sent to me with the same exact problems as the original shipments: packaging consisted solely of a few pieces of folded paper layed flat around the computer printer. Completely inappropriate for an elctronic item. Should have bubble wrap and pellets. If AMAZON can wrap books in bubble wrap, why not electronic equipment ? Also, boxes were not sealed with tape, and arrived wide open - twice. Somebody must have been asleep on the job to let these packages go out this way ... way too obvious to miss thru normal inspection/observation !

Frankly, it seems intentional ! Now I'm worried that the printer I finally accepted may be damaged in a way that is not immediately apparent to a new user/owner of the printer .. all because of negligent packing/shipping by AMAZON.

"Easy setup thanks to reading reviews first" 2010-07-17
By Lovonne D'orlaque (Bellaire, TX)
I almost skipped this beautiful machine. Yes, it looks good. That's not the best part by far. I got a great Amazon deal on this easy to setup wireless printer that made my techno-illiterate skills seem on par. First, I'm using Snow Leopard, so I heeded the advice of others. I follow the easy setup instructions and when it called for cd installation; I pulled up the updated driver software online at the HP service site. It was too easy. It took me 15 minutes. As lame as my ability to get from point A to B, I've impressed myself. And now the real challenge, does this thing live up to the highest review that Consumer Reports esteems. Out of all the all-in-one printers tested, Consumer Reports rated this printer scored 74 out of 100. The key areas in case these are the points of difference that make or break the decision for you...like it did for me, are: Excellent scores in photo and graphic quality, Very Good ratings in the text, scan, copy, and power saving qualities. The ink isn't the cheapest. It costs about $.40 to print one 4x6 photo,$1.30 to print an 8x10, and about five cents to print one page of text. That is Consumer Reports recommendations. My personal experience is that it costs to make a quality print. If quality is your concern, look no further. This is the best you can get at this price. I have compared this one to the Canon Pixma Pro9500 Mark II. That Canon is a superior machine @ $850, but this HP is about the closest you can get in that amount of quality at under $300. Both render lab quality professional looking prints. Canon does edge it out as far as sharper quality, but almost indisguishable differences. HP printers almost require HP Premium Plus Photo Paper as the ink, paper, and machine work synergistically to create pro results. Someone made a good point, if you pay for quality ink, on a quality printer, you need quality paper. Ordinary photo paper gave great results, good enough for scrapbooking and photo sharing. So, don't feel locked in to that, it's just for the best results; you really get what you pay for. And on that note, at the price Amazon offered this HP Photosmart Premium Touchsmart Web printer, I feel like I scored! The touchscreen apps are cool and sleek. Fully functional even, but wasn't my determining factor. Ease of install was a plus. Ease of use a plus. Quality of photo, print and graphic at the price I paid, makes this a must for any budding to moderate photographer, home, or office. Get it!

 "Don't Waste Your Time" 2010-06-09
By S. Bennett (Irving, TX United States)
I spent 3 hours trying to install the software (onto a fully-updated Vista machine), then left it alone for another 1 1/2 hours after I read that it took some other users over an hour for the software to install. I used the CD that came with the printer, and then gave up and downloaded the installation executables directly from HP - it would never install.

Even on sale, it's a pricey printer to be so iffy (search around more than I did if you decide to buy this - many, many people experienced the same installation failures). A lot of features I would never have used, but it was so highly rated elsewhere that I took the plunge

The web connect feature worked immediately and I printed a couple of test pages; lovely color and fast enough speed; but since I could never get it to install properly, I returned it to the store the same day.

 "Speedy and quality" 2010-05-28
By Nicole King (Aptos, CA USA)
This printer does everything, but I primarily purchased it for scanning in old photo's and creating slide shows. To that end, the device is excellent. The quality of the scans is very good, picking up details and colors in the photo's that I couldn't see with the naked eye. The printing function seems to work great, although I haven't used it often. Overall, I would recommend this device to a friend.

"great clear photos but jammed paper all the time" 2010-06-10
By Nicole (Los Angeles)
This printer prints beautiful photos. I got it because it could print on dvds (which I haven't tried yet), it has an auto-document feeder, is wireless, and can do double sided printing. Unfortunately, the paper the paper seems to get stuck more often than not trying to print. And the document feeder gets jammed as well. There is something about the way this printer spools the paper that if paper is not just so, it won't work and it will get jammed. It also doesn't hold very many sheets in the paper tray. The print quality seems very high and the scanner is good. It is also very simple to use and came with lots of software. The ink is expensive but it hasn't seemed to use it up terribly quickly,

 "Best Ever" 2010-06-08
By Lynne Peterson (Tucson, AZ United States)
This printer is by far the best printer we have ever owned. We can all use it, and it does an excellent job at everything it does. When you tell it to print it happens almost instantly, even with color. We can print on both sides of the paper and have many other options when it comes to printing. We haven't used the fax yet, but it is all set up and ready to go. Making copies is a snap.

We are just really impressed with everything this printer does, and how the finished product looks.

"Best printer I ever had" 2010-06-05
By Robert L. Page (LA, USA)
Fast, quiet, and I can see it and use it from all my computers. I could not find the scanner interface, I go in system preference. Once I get there it is great. I can lay out a bunch of small picture and so long as you don't put them to close together. The scanner will bracket them scan them separately and give them each a number with out you having to name them. I find it easy and fast. Ink usage so far seems good. Printing is fast and quiet. I use it to print disk labels. Much better disk tray, prints fast and quit.

I did not try the fax yet but it has to better than my old one that had a ribbon.Epson Artisan 810 Wireless Touchscreen Color Inkjet All-in-One Printer (C11CA52201)

 "Found what i wanted" 2010-05-27
By L. Avalos
So we were searching printers to print on small type of cards. I look at the HP all in ones and the Canons, after talking to a few people they told me this would actually be the best for that...the drivers are easier and better than the HP and the quality would be better than the canon. So i bought it and so far its been great. Wireless integration is simple. I do have some knowledge of this stuff but i think most people could figure it out with just reading the step by step instructions. The printing is great and its fast...now i have only had this for about 3 weeks but i do like it. I'm not sure about the ink use yet...so far it doesn't seem bad.
