"Great value buying through Amazon" 2010-07-23
By pedro
Bought this printer to replace my HP 2510 AIO. Great product overall. Only problem i had was similar to the issue I had with my 2510. The scan function and sending the item to a pc on the network is kinda iffy when the computers are connected wireless. With the PCs I have hardwired, no issues at all. Configuration was effortless also with almost no PC interaction. No issues at all when the printer found my network opposed to the 2510. Will recommend.

"If only it arrived in one piece !" 2010-07-21
By C. D. Church (Jersey City, NJ USA)
Honestly ... someone should be fired at the packing facility! This item was returned twice due to the packing problems. And guess what ? The new/exchanged item is sent to me with the same exact problems as the original shipments: packaging consisted solely of a few pieces of folded paper layed flat around the computer printer. Completely inappropriate for an elctronic item. Should have bubble wrap and pellets. If AMAZON can wrap books in bubble wrap, why not electronic equipment ? Also, boxes were not sealed with tape, and arrived wide open - twice. Somebody must have been asleep on the job to let these packages go out this way ... way too obvious to miss thru normal inspection/observation !

Frankly, it seems intentional ! Now I'm worried that the printer I finally accepted may be damaged in a way that is not immediately apparent to a new user/owner of the printer .. all because of negligent packing/shipping by AMAZON.

"Easy setup thanks to reading reviews first" 2010-07-17
By Lovonne D'orlaque (Bellaire, TX)
I almost skipped this beautiful machine. Yes, it looks good. That's not the best part by far. I got a great Amazon deal on this easy to setup wireless printer that made my techno-illiterate skills seem on par. First, I'm using Snow Leopard, so I heeded the advice of others. I follow the easy setup instructions and when it called for cd installation; I pulled up the updated driver software online at the HP service site. It was too easy. It took me 15 minutes. As lame as my ability to get from point A to B, I've impressed myself. And now the real challenge, does this thing live up to the highest review that Consumer Reports esteems. Out of all the all-in-one printers tested, Consumer Reports rated this printer scored 74 out of 100. The key areas in case these are the points of difference that make or break the decision for you...like it did for me, are: Excellent scores in photo and graphic quality, Very Good ratings in the text, scan, copy, and power saving qualities. The ink isn't the cheapest. It costs about $.40 to print one 4x6 photo,$1.30 to print an 8x10, and about five cents to print one page of text. That is Consumer Reports recommendations. My personal experience is that it costs to make a quality print. If quality is your concern, look no further. This is the best you can get at this price. I have compared this one to the Canon Pixma Pro9500 Mark II. That Canon is a superior machine @ $850, but this HP is about the closest you can get in that amount of quality at under $300. Both render lab quality professional looking prints. Canon does edge it out as far as sharper quality, but almost indisguishable differences. HP printers almost require HP Premium Plus Photo Paper as the ink, paper, and machine work synergistically to create pro results. Someone made a good point, if you pay for quality ink, on a quality printer, you need quality paper. Ordinary photo paper gave great results, good enough for scrapbooking and photo sharing. So, don't feel locked in to that, it's just for the best results; you really get what you pay for. And on that note, at the price Amazon offered this HP Photosmart Premium Touchsmart Web printer, I feel like I scored! The touchscreen apps are cool and sleek. Fully functional even, but wasn't my determining factor. Ease of install was a plus. Ease of use a plus. Quality of photo, print and graphic at the price I paid, makes this a must for any budding to moderate photographer, home, or office. Get it!

 "Don't Waste Your Time" 2010-06-09
By S. Bennett (Irving, TX United States)
I spent 3 hours trying to install the software (onto a fully-updated Vista machine), then left it alone for another 1 1/2 hours after I read that it took some other users over an hour for the software to install. I used the CD that came with the printer, and then gave up and downloaded the installation executables directly from HP - it would never install.

Even on sale, it's a pricey printer to be so iffy (search around more than I did if you decide to buy this - many, many people experienced the same installation failures). A lot of features I would never have used, but it was so highly rated elsewhere that I took the plunge

The web connect feature worked immediately and I printed a couple of test pages; lovely color and fast enough speed; but since I could never get it to install properly, I returned it to the store the same day.

 "Speedy and quality" 2010-05-28
By Nicole King (Aptos, CA USA)
This printer does everything, but I primarily purchased it for scanning in old photo's and creating slide shows. To that end, the device is excellent. The quality of the scans is very good, picking up details and colors in the photo's that I couldn't see with the naked eye. The printing function seems to work great, although I haven't used it often. Overall, I would recommend this device to a friend.
