 "MAC USERS REJOICE!" 2010-08-05
By Christopher R. Gillespie (Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA)
Ladies and Gentlemen,

After wrestling with poor COLOR print quality on my HL-4070CDW for a couple years now, I have found the solution to the lack of intensity to the color. The answer is so obvious its silly. The Mac printer drivers do not overrule the "Ecology" setting under "General Setup." In other words, with Toner Save on in the menu, the setting in the print dialogue on your mac is irrelevant. I switched it off and have successfully printed with good color matching and density on Mac OSX 10.6 with the CUPS driver.

Needless to say, the Brother techs were worthless both times I have called. I have a solution and I can finally be happy with this printer.

awesome product. easy setup and quick response to tech support. had a couple of paper jams but with quick fixes. be sure to use acceptable paper products. print quality is great and the ink usage far exceed quantity expectations. I wrote a three hundred fifty page novel and was able to print out twenty copies which include color photos as well. I'm still using ink supplied by the original cartridges, and the print is beautiful. I just hate that i didn't get a multifunction model, so you may want to step-up the HL-4070cdw.

"Good Laser Printer for the money" 2010-07-31
By G. Giftos (Cadillac, MI USA)
I really like the wireless connectivity feature. Now all four of my computers on my wireless network can print on this printer. Duplex printing is also a plus, saving paper. Print quality is excellent for a color laser printer. Somehwat slow compared to the other laser printers I own and much slower than the Xerox Phaser 8550DP, but so far, less troublesome than the Xerox, which uses colored wax sticks. While not cheap, the color toner for the Brother is much less expensive than the wax sticks the Xerox uses. Some have complained of the paper curling. I did not find this objectionable...just some slight curling. It does create a problem printing envelopes where the heat causes the flaps to stick. You have to catch the envelopes just as them come out and open the flaps. Not a problem if you can find envelopes made specifically for laser printers, which use a glue that doesn't stick from the heat. The envelopes do wrinkle, however, and I have see any information on how to prevent this. Others have commented that the pressures can be adjusted to minimize this, but I haven't found the instructions to do this. Overall, I would buy it again and would recommend it to a friend.
