Fantastic Printer That Prints Well On Plain Paper. Easy To Set-Up & Easy To Use....
By Kacey Lee
It prints good quality at rather slow speed. This is my 2nd printer as the useful life of printer head was done less than 2 years. It's overengineered for printer head and functions which hurt reliability.

This printer is definitely not a good buy if you have a windows 7 64-bit system. It installed just fine on my desktop XP computer, but will not install on my laptop. It gets to the point where the wizard expects an inf file, then it can't find one anywhere. I looked on the Epson site and there is no download for windows 7 drivers. You can get a software package that would theoretically allow you to control the printer, but no inf file. I contacted Epson support and they claim that this is not a current model (so why is it for sale on their site?) and they do not have Windows 7 drivers and do not intend to provide them. I have been buying Epson printers very happily since the first Stylus printers came out, but this one really tears it. Nowhere on either the Epson site nor on the Amazon site does it say that Windows 7 is not supported. Needless to say I am really unhappy about this.

I've had two of these printers. They both have the same problem, though the first one lasted longer than the one I have now before the print quality disintegrated. I've had this one just over a year, and for the last several months no matter how many head cleanings I do in a row before trying to print, it is impossible to get a clean page. I have been doing heavy printing today and cleaned before I started, again in the middle, and finally got decent black printing ... and then color printing went wonky and all the blue came out red. I've just cleaned it three times in a row and the test pattern still has not only gaps but up and down spits. The only reason I'm still hanging onto it is that I have a lot of ink left and don't want to waste that expensive purchase. Oh, and I have only ever used Epson cartridges in it - never an off-brand. Avoid this printer like the plague!

I bought this printer to replace an Epson 1160 that had just worn out. I wanted a printer that would print photos as well as half-page sized paper, specifically on vellum. This little gem is just the ticket. It is quieter than any printer I have ever had and has a modest footprint. Leaves space for paper changes. It also has the option of changing only one of four cartridges at a time. Quite a saving over the 1160. Were I in need of another printer, this is the one I would choose.
