"Better then what I expected for the price!" 2010-08-08

First, some of the reviews I've read on this printer unfairly compare it to much higher end models. This is a BASIC home/office printer. I use it at work and print about 20+ BW docs a day and only an occasional color photo. I have an Epson R320, R340 and an Artisan 50 for the good stuff. But I needed a little workhorse that would eliminate me from running to the receptionist's desk every time I wanted to print a document to the network printer at work. The first thing I noticed was this is the FASTEST printer I've ever owned -- I LOVE it! Unlike my Artisan 50 at home, the 30 is LOUD -- but hey, the boss knows I'm working. Besides, I don't know how much quieter it could be with the carriage moving back and forth so fast. You can quiet it down using the properties and sacrificing some speed if it bothers you. Setup was very easy and Epson has a great Windows 7 support page for the newer printers. However, I'm running win98 on my work PC so I can't comment on it's compatibility with Win7 (The only reason I mention this is because it was helpful with my Artisan 50 at home). Overall I've had good luck with this printer. BW print quality is great and color is decent. But if your want a photo printer, you have to spend more money to get high quality photos. I feel that I got more for my money than I expected. I wanted an inexpensive workhorse and that's exactly what I got. So far the only downfall is the typical overpriced Epson ink.

Nice Printer. Great quality. Photos are great.

Soaks up a lot of ink though.

 "Terrible Photo Quality" 2010-07-27
By Jennie (Tooele, UT, USA)
False advertising convinced me to buy this printer as a "replacement" for my Epson C88+ which had quit working. All of these printers quit printing when they reach a certain point & there's nothing you can do about it. The Epson Workforce 30 is a fast printer but the color quality is poor no matter what setting I use. A few days after setting it up, I began to long for Epson c88+ and decided to order several of them since they are being "replaced" by junk. If you need high quality color, don't buy Epson Workforce 30.

 "Very frustrating machine" 2010-07-14
By J. Bell (PA)
I have owned this printer for nearly a year. It still functions, which is a plus I guess, but this printer is extremely frustrating. It constantly jams and every other print job I have to open it up and rip out mutilated sheets of paper. It takes FIVE INK CARTRIDGES (2 black, 3 color) and sucks up ink like a black hole. It's extremely expensive and annoying to have to buy a new set of cartridges ALL THE TIME.

But the most frustrating thing is if one cartridge is empty, the printer REFUSES TO PRINT. PERIOD. I have 2 black ink cartridges that are half full but I am out of magenta ink. All I wanted to do was print out a resume with black ink only. Even if you specify "Black Ink Only" in the printing preferences the machine will refuse to print because one cartridge is empty, EVEN IF YOU WONT BE USING THAT CARTRIDGE AT ALL. It is so frustrating to have a black text document with plenty of black ink that you can't print because one of the color cartridges is empty.

Buy something else. Your blood pressure will thank you.

I hate this printer. So. Much.

 "Works with Web/Tv" 2010-06-12
By Richard A. Nelson
This Printer has been working just fine. No problems to date -- and expect none. Epson makes a good product and this model (along with a few HP printers) works fine with my Web/Tv unit.

Only some ten or so printers are compatible -- and this is one of them. Thank goodness!!
