"great printer for med school" 2010-09-05
By Saurabh Bajpai
I have to print of many pages of notes with tons of diagrams, which honestly can not be differentiated without color. This allows me to do that. Since i also print so much, the laser is the way to go, b/c it saves much more money in the long run. Also i can refill the toner myself (so i'm saving more money by not constantly changing toners). This thing is big and i do mean really really big. Be prepared to have a very sturdy table to hold it up. The color comes out great, i wouldn't go on to say that it is phenomenal (but then again i wouldn't expect it for $350 either). The color do justice to what i need it for and will for most people. If you are in photography and need a really great printer (this probably isn't it). Hope this helps.

By S. Dugoni (San Francisco, CA)
I won't buy again. Had to toss this one and I bought the HP 4014n B&W. Fast, quiet, cheaper toner. I can use my inkjet if I need color. Don't buy color laser unless you need color all the time. Toner costs are outrageous and toner wont last long even if only printing B&W because it draws from all the color toner cartridges.

"Very dull muddy looking prints" 2010-08-19
By Wondurgurl (Toronto, ON)
If you're looking for dull, lifeless prints with muddy colors, this is the printer for you. I've tried changing the setting on the printer to "vivid" and oversaturated my picture, but the color prints still come out looking like they've been washed in mud. I can see this printer being good for flyers. The duplex ability of the printer is really handy and the black and white printing is very good.

"Excellent printer at a reasonable price" 2010-08-11
By Mike DeMaria_AMZ
I run a small business and occasionally need color. The most important things to me are cost, crisp printing, and speed. This printer combines all 3.

I purchased this printer to replace my Samsung CLP500 network color laser. It was a pig, constantly eating consumables. I finally had enough when a few months ago it complained that it was out of cyan toner - if I printed 100 pages of color that was a lot! I found all my cyan, and magenta, AND yellow toner in the 'waste toner bucket'. Every time the printer warmed up, it cycled the color toners, wasting them. Since it was a single drum machine, color printing was SLOW (think 4 pages a minute)

This Brother printer does NOT waste toner, and the 4 drums (one for each color) mean SPEEDY color printing. What I really love about it is when I print straight black and white, which is 99% of the time. Where the Samsung ran the color developers even if you only printed black and white, the Brother does NOT. It is smart enough to know when to run what, saving money.

The PDF manual is great, walking me through the procedure to clean one of the drums when I had a print quality problem (repeating mark). Network setup was easy. The duplex printing is also great (albeit a bit slow).

Just like others have said, pop those levers in the back if you are going to be printing envelopes and LEAVE them that way. I had some bad wrinkles, and that fixed them in a jiffy. Regular printing is still AOK even with the levers in the envelope position.

The only negative I have about the printer (and it's a VERY small one) is that the plastic feels a bit cheap and thin.

All in all, a great purchase!

"Does not print in the center of page." 2010-09-28
By R. Mau (seattle)
You need to adjust your document 1/16 in right of center to have your document print in the center of the page. Called Brother support and they printed a test page on their model, and it came out left of center also. They had no suggestions on how to fix the problem. Horrible support center. Was on the phone for almost an hour to try to get this problem resolved.

"Very satisfied with Brother products" 2010-09-19
By sonicare reviewer (California)
I've bought several Brother products over the years, and always been happy. This one is great too. When one of my colleagues recommended me a Brother printer many years ago, I said, "Brother, of all makers?" But, once I bought my first Brother product, I was completely sold out to them. Everything I bought since then from them exceeded my expectations. Their product lasts very long (often donate perfectly working product just to swap it out with newer products, not because anything is wrong.) Their support staff are the best also. They always provided me with fast services and right solutions. I can't remember ever spending a lot of time on the phone with them to resolve any tech issues (even though it's rare that I need to call them, simply because their stuff work just fine.) I would recommend Brother products to anyone.

It takes a minute or so to warm up when first printing. Noise is moderate for a home office. DO NOT GET THIS PRINTER IF YOU NEED ANY FORM OF QUALITY PHOTO PRINTS! As for printing of standard documents, it prints satisfactory. If I had known that it had such poor photo quality prints(even on the highest quality print settings) I would not have purchased this printer.

By Kenneth Burns (Thornton, CO USA)
I previously owned a B/W Brother multi-function printer and thought it was a wonderful piece of technology. Why then did I buy a new one. Something happened to the printer and I thought it would cost more to fix it than replace it. After looking around my suspicious were correct. Set up was fast and it actually took longer to setup the software than to put the unit together. (User goof) Over the years I have held a strong preference for HP Printers. In the past 4 years though, Brother has replaced that preference. Operation cost, ease of setup, faster printer engines for the comparable cost all give the edge to Brother. Good luck with your next printer purchase but mine will very likely be another Brother printer.

"Love it - see short video for details" 2010-02-02
By Jobba (San Francisco)
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R20G0N5EZKL1EV I got this printer in order to develop professional quality prints and presentations, which include graphics, photos, and charts. My trusty inkjet printer, while fantastic on photo paper, bled ever so slightly to make graphics on normal paper look sloppy to a discerning eye.

I researched for 3 days, scoured every website regarding color laserjets, before deciding on this printer. And let me say I was not overly excited about going with an HP - service is notoriously iffy - but the quality to price ratio beat out all the other lesser brands (at least in the sub-$1k price range)

The printer is expensive, and toner incredibly expensive as well. ($112 right now for the black standard capacity, and $225 for each of the 3 colors). It is true that the initial toner is 1/3 full, but they should last about 3,000 prints. A relative has the previous generation hp printer (the price of toner has not gone up), and he says that he bought one set of toner 3 years ago and they're still working, 5-7,000+ prints later.

If you have high yield needs, I would recommend doing a price comparison on toners and how often they'll need changing, but my need was much more quality based.

And the prints are fantastic. High resolution, good depth to color, no bleeding or smearing - exactly what I needed. Photos look nice also (though I'll still use the inkjet for photos on photo paper).

See the video to get a gauge on the print quality, time to print, and noise. Note that this is printed on standard, default quality. When it's not printing it's quite silent, although from sleep mode it does take 2+- minutes to calibrate, clean, and be print-ready.

Pros:

High quality color printing (my priority)

Fast

Cheaper than some other professional quality color laserjets

Cons:

Loud when printing

Big and heavy (2 people recommended to lift, but not impossible for one)

HP can be tough to work with should problems arise

Expensive toner

Depending on how you situate, the power and usb/network connections might be inconvenient (see video)

Large graphic files take a few extra minutes

But, all the cons are more than manageable for me again due to my priority of high quality printing, so 5 stars.

"Good and Fast output but Noisy" 2010-01-19
By East Wood
I had the printer setup in my home office 8 feet or so away from where I work.

The Good.

1) Fast and excellent output

2) Easy to set up for networking. (Just follow the simply direction and it worked the first time)

3) Works well with OSx and MS

The Bad

1) Bit large and heavy (not too bad)

2) sounds like a VACUUM CLEANER when it turns on

3) the fan sound never seems to end even when it is in the sleep mode. (it does end eventually)

Conclusion.

If you don't care about ambience then this printer may be good for you, but I would not have it any area where I spend a lot of time.

"Good Printer once I solved spped problem and found cheap ink" 2010-09-19
By Don Jolly (New Orleans)
I will echo another reviewers comments which helped me alot. "Printer Status Notification (hpmsn083.dll ) was a pain. On XP Machines (Vista machines okay), with a peer to peer network, it would result in very slow spooling and 100% CPU usage". I am running XP pro 32 bit SP3 on a 2.8 P4 with 2Gb ram and the spooling time was killing me. Not only was the copy of any document with graphics taking some times (as long as 20 minutes to have 2 pages print) but the computer was tied up with CPU running at 100% the whole time. Within seconds of sending a print you could hear both fans crank up to high speed due to the heat being generated by the CPU.

Here is the answer to this: Go to the START menu (lower left) then click on "printers and faxes", right mouse click on the printer name, then Go to and right mouse click on "properties", Go over to the Device Settings tab and disable the !@#$ Printer Status Notification in Properties. Dont ask me why but it works and now all is good, after much wasted time.

Other than that, printing B&W and color is good, There is paper curl, but apparantly there is a setting to diminish that. there are some weird light clunking sounds from printer but function is fine. I found after market non-HP toner for about $40 on Amazon. I have no complaints and it is much cheaper.

"So Pleased that I Purchased a Second One" 2010-08-14
By Southern Magnate (Boca Raton, FL USA)
The quality of the text print is second to none! I do not use this for photos, however. It creates a very professional look -- one you cannot get with an ink-jet. Many documents I create have faint watermarks and the printing is phenomenal.

HP says their ink cartridges produce 2600 pages. This is baloney. Actually 500 is closer to the truth!

I use this printer often and the cartridges started to get costly so I switched to refurbished cartridges. For about $40 you can get cartridges from "Sophia Global." I've already been through about a dozen refurbished cartridges and I cannot tell the difference between them and the HP cartridges. The quality is 100% equal.

Sophia Global has better customer service than Office Depot or Staples (or HP for that matter).

The only gripe is that this printer is loud and goes through a self-cleaning several times a day -- so all of a sudden it starts the cleaning process out of nowhere and scares the daylights out of me.

 "Don't waste your money" 2010-07-11
By Sue Bechtel (Wauwatosa, WI United States)
Buyer beware. I received this printer from my company for my home office and after 5 months it completely stopped working due to an error code that I cannot reset on the printer. After installing a replacement ink cartridge you, too, are likely to receive an error code telling you to "remove shipping lock" from the replaced ink cartridge even if you have already removed the shipping lock (which is a plastic strip you pull out before installation). After a month of Googling a solution and many hours on the phone with HP...you guessed it...still sitting here with this non-functioning lemon. All you have to do is Google "remove shipping lock from HP CP 2025" and you will discover a plethora of bloggers complaining about this darn printer. I WOULD NEVER SPEND MY OWN MONEY ON THIS MACHINE. Thankfully my company paid for mine but the frustration level is the same and trust me...the level is HIGH!!! What a pain in the you-know-what to waste my time on a problem that HP is well aware of yet cannot seem to figure out how to repair. Take it from me and all of the other frustrated CP2025 owners and buy another brand. After reading the blogs I sense this problem crosses over to other HP models as well.

"Does what it is supposed to!" 2010-09-10
By E. Kerby (Salt Lake City, UT)
I purchased this printer a few weeks ago, and I love it! My eyes teared up a little when I saw the demo test page because it is SO nice to finally have a printer that actually does what it is supposed to.

If you need something really really fancy, I don't know how this printer compares to really really fancy printers, BUT, for my home office, this printer is absolutely perfect.

It was VERY easy to set up this printer. The instructions that come with it are totally clear, and everything is straightforward. The diagrams and pictures make sense. It's the kind of thing where you skip steps here and there (because they are just common sense) but if you have any question or confusion, you can look at the instructions and you immediately understand. (Setup was slightly different for our PC and mac, but the instructions cover both types, and both were very easy.)

I didn't have a USB 2.0 cable anymore (whoops!), so I had to go buy one, because that doesn't come in the box.

Everything since setup has been a dream--we press print and it asks the things that printers are supposed to (like about size and DPI, etc), and then it PRINTS! (Our old printer used to be such a pain--it would gray out some options that I wanted sometimes, and it would pop up a bunch of boxes on my screen about ordering Lex***k stuff and registering (again!), and then it took forever to print and needed to realign all the time...none of that nonsense with our new Brother, though!)

I think the quality of the pages I've printed has been exceptional. The printer seems to go to sleep pretty quickly when I am not using it, but as soon as I am ready to print, it wakes right up and gets down to business. The printer prints quickly--it says 17 pages per minute. Now, I haven't counted how many pages per minute I actually get, but each page only takes a few seconds, so that has been quite convenient.

I don't really have anything negative to say about this printer. The features I most wish it had are:

- scan/copy (but obviously I knew it didn't do that when I bought it, and I much prefer this printer that PRINTS over the old "printer" that could scan/copy all right but did not print very well...)

- wireless printing (would be nice, but it's not a big deal, and they make them with wireless; you just have to pay more.)

- duplexing. (Oh well.)

My favorite features are:

- (nice) color printing!

- mac compatible!

- prints quickly!

In conclusion, I highly recommend this printer (especially for homes and small businesses)! It does what it is supposed to. For my small business it has been great so far, as it creates very professional looking documents.

"Print is ok, when it prints" 2010-08-27
By John Nordin (Minnesota, USA)
My first review was eaten by Amazon for some reason, reposting.

The print quality is quite nice and it prints quickly on 8.5x11 paper. Everything else about this printer is a nightmare of poor usability. Let's list the problems:

-- toner doesn't last very long

-- low toner message on computer doesn't tell you which one is low.

-- they don't make clear that you need to buy drums in addition to toner, just not as often.

-- printing costs are very expensive when you factor in toner and drums

-- display is old technology and is hard if not impossible to read unless you are looking at it head on in direct light

-- display is limited to one slowly scrolling line

-- when one toner gets low, printing just stops. Doesn't print faded, doesn't print bxw if color toner is out, it just up and totally quits.

-- menu of paper sizes is weird and doesn't include 4x6 or 5x8. List doesn't include the sizes, you have to look at the help for that.

-- single sheet feeder is needed for most non 8.5x11 sizes

-- single sheet feeder is prone to jams

-- paper path is complex, would be tough on thick paper, I think

It is a nice printer so far. The software install and setup as a network printer was amazingly quick and easy. I like the idea of the toner on the printed pages not being water soluble. Toner cartridges were over $78 at Staples so I ordered a replacement Brother TN210BK toner cartridge from Amazon for approx. $48. The only feature I would add to this printer is the convenience of Auto Duplex printing. I will not miss the constant clogging of the printhead on the older color inkjet printer that this printer is a replacement for.

 "Great basic printer" 2010-08-08
By M. McShane (Virginia, United States)
I bought this printer for home use. I don't print often--just coupons or shipping labels or word documents mostly. I don't do any fancy printing jobs or photos so I can't comment on how it does with those. I wanted something that the ink wouldn't dry up in a few months and the Brother laser printer seemed like a good choice. So far, it has worked great. It is attached to my home network through ethernet, I turn it on when I want to print and off when I am done. Warm-up time is really quick and print quality is a-okay. Initially, it smelled slightly of burning or ink dust (I wasn't really sure which) but that has faded over the past few months. I am quite pleased with my printer.

"First one wouldnt print black" 2010-08-23
By Gina Gray (Prunedale, CA United States)
Got one from costco. Test page wouldn't print black, so called CS & was sent a new one (they needed a credit card to send you a second one, no charges have appeared as long as you send them the old one within 3 days of getting the new one).

Anyway, the new one is working fine so far. Seems to be an OK printer, if you can deal with the hassle of possibly getting a printer with issues. Do like the print quality, cost for cartridges.

"ZERO stars for ZERO customer service!" 2010-07-30
By Isuzan (Midwest)
Well, give it up for another company that sent it's customer service people jobs overseas - they can only read from a script and nothing else. I purchased this printer at Staples yesterday; got a great deal on it (SO I THOUGHT) 'cause they were clearancing them out for the newer model. I even looked at Amazon reviews prior to purchasing it. Some were so stellar I thought, "Hey, I have to give this a try!" but the bad ones really made me nervous. Guess I should've gone with my gut.

I happily unpacked it today, put the cartridges in, and it printed out a perfect page. HOORAY! NOT SO FAST THERE 'PARDNER...I shouted in jubilation far too quickly. Immediately it went into convulsions (that machine gun sound) and gave me the dreaded error, "Unable to Init. AF". I went through all the troubleshooting online and called their "Customer service" center (and I use this term loosely). He said it definately needed to be replaced, and would be happy to assist.

He said that he'd need a credit card to put a $50 hold on my credit card "In case the original machine is not returned". WHAT? I said, "I don't have a credit card". My only other two options were to take it to service center (this thing is HEAVY...I should not have to lug it an hour away to get it repaired - oh, and wait at least a week); or I could pay to insure it and send it back to Brother at my OWN EXPENSE.

After hours of this nonsense (trying to get a non-working new printer to work) and dealing with non-English speaking individuals who don't understand the nuances of the English language, I'm perturbed and will NEVER recommend or purchase a Brother product again. I will find someone who can give me a credit card so this can be exchanged and be done with it; but will spread the word that this company is awful to do business with - and that this product should be avoided at all costs. Hopefully the replacement works; I'll update this later if it does not.

I purchased one other Brother printer this year - through Amazon, and had to send it back as it also have untold errors. Does Mickey Mouse put these things together?

Is there a number less than ZERO I could give this manufacturer and product? Sure wish there was!

I am very impressed at the longevity of the ink cartridges of this machine, bought this at the end of April this year have run off at least 200 plus copy's and have not had to replace the ink cartridges yet. On my Lexmark 7100 I would have done a replacement twice by now. What a difference and a pleasure to have this machine it has almost paid for itself just in a few months and I have years of warranty left and I bought two sets of ink replacements with it. I am probably set for at least the rest of this year and maybe to the anniversary of me buying it next year, it was easy to set up, its easy to use and best of all my wife likes it and has told me thank you for buying it; and after 25yrs of marriage I did something right thanks "Brother" you made it possible.

Its is worth every penny you pay for it. Thanks Amazon for bringing us these high quality products and the extended warranty's that are offered it really makes the purchases a even better deal.

 "Very user unfriendly" 2010-06-11
By freeseek
I setup this printer yesterday in my lab. I was very surprised at first that there was no mention of where the network cable needs to be inserted. Basically you have to open the printer first. I have no idea why they decided to make it so complicated. Setting the printer up is overall a bit of a pain. For some reasons there is no web server working on it, though port 80 seems to be open. The little menu is very counterintuitive as it is not clear what you have to do to go back through the menus. The last straw came today when the printer refused to work, giving the only message "unable to print 30". There is no clue given about what this means and about what to do. Reading on the internet, it seems something might have got stuck. Not bad since we printed something like 5 pages before this happened. But what really angers me is that there is no explanation given for the error, just a useless number. The printer is clearly not thought with the user in mind. Be prepared to waste a lot of your time. I hope my lab will be able to return it.

I got the printer and it was easy to set up on our three computers. I love the 11 x 17 printing. The only problem I have had is that under the normal quality setting, black is more a very dark grey. Under the fine quality setting, the black is black. I order remanufactured cartridges from [...] for about $2.50 each. It is a big printer but it is a great printer.

 "Good Printer" 2010-08-28
By Maira L. Sousa
I purchased this printer at Office Depot last Black Friday for $80. That was $120 off the MSRP, so I figured why not. When I got home, all I did was take it out of the box, plug in the USB cable (you have to have your own), and installed the software, and the printer was up and running within 10 minutes. Toner was already installed. I don't do heavy duty printing, so toner lasts me an average 7 months (which is really good since 2 black inks and 1 of each color ink is only $128 on Amazon).

I don't like how Samsung advertises its "No Noise" printing on this particular printer. I believe its loud compared to other inkjet and laserjet printers. Also, the printer is really heavy (upwards of 15 pounds). Also, the paper tray is somewhat flimsy and cheap. There is no fax, scanner, or copier on this printer. If you need that, you'd be better off purchasing an HP Officejet. The on/off switch is on the back, which can be annoying if you have your printer against the wall.

Otherwise, this is a great printer and I highly recommend it.

 "Love This Printer" 2010-08-24
By Reich Gardner (Weaverville, NC)
I've used a Samsung ML-1740 B&W laser for years without any complaints, so when I needed a color printer with a small footprint for my business, I was delighted to find the Samsung CLP-315. Some of the reviews I read made me wonder, but for the price I figured it was worth a try. I'm very glad I gave it a chance.

I had it out of the box and running in five minutes. All I had to do was lift it out of the box, take off the tape, install the software, and I was printing (you will need your own USB cable). It was by far the most hassle-free printer set-up I've ever experienced.

B&W is very sharp, colors are excellent, operation is quiet and relatively fast, and I've had zero problems. I'm particularly pleased with how little space it takes. It's just slightly larger than a breadbox, which is in stark contrast to the HP I looked at that seemed at least four times the size.

Anyone looking for a color laser on a budget that will fit unobtrusively in a small space should pick up one of these.

Great printer for the money. When you consider a color laser compared to a ink jet for the same $, you can't go wrong. Only downside I've found is you can't use photo paper with an laser printer.

 "Buyer Beware" 2010-07-02

If you are a Mac user, beware. There is an active thread on the Apple Discussion Forums about problems with this printer. Bottom line, it works well with OS X 10.6.2 but not with 10.6.3 or 10.6.4. Neither Apple nor Samsung will acknowledge this, so you are stuck.

In addition, I received a defective replacement print cartridge and neither Samsung (the manufacturer) nor the seller of the cartridge will (currently) replace it.

So - a printer that does not always work, and cartridges that are defective. I won't buy another Samsung printer.

 "I wouldn't buy it again" 2010-06-15
By J. Chan
I bought the CLP-315 due to its small form factor and has the ability to print in both B/W and colour. It is also reasonably priced. However the absence of an automatic duplex function really lets it down. (But you should have known before purchasing!) When you do want to print double sided, it is a complete hassle as there is no manual feed tray and the design of the main feeder makes it difficult to load and unload paper in a hurry. The machine does from time to time crinkle the corners of the paper which is annoying and there is severe paper curling.

The printer is quiet although it emits a strong smell when printing.

The printer software is rudimentary but is stable most of the time.

 "Works great at first...." 2010-08-16
By jdadub (USA)
We purchased this printer to print mostly simple documents at home. I had no problems setting the printer up on our home wifi network. However, when it was time to change the ink everything went down hill. The first time we changed the ink it would print only half of the document and if it printed the entire document it was faint crooked. After cleaning the print nozzles and doing an alignment a 1000 times with no success I gave up and unplugged it for a week. When I plugged it back up it started working fine.

We installed new ink last week and now all we get is blank documents. We have went through all the cleaning and alignment with no luck.

The ink is expensive and you use it up quickly even if you print in mostly black and white.

One last thing if you run out of 1 color and every other is still full, the printer will not let you print.

"Nice Wireless Printer - Good ROI" 2010-08-09
By D. Young (Wilmington, NC USA)
Okay...let's get this out of the way. Printers today are, well...consumable. Yep. You read that right. They're basically consumable, disposable loss-leaders designed for 1 sole purpose, and it isn't printing. It's to sell overpriced, under-performing ink to the masses.

As a former HP user, I was tired of purchasing over-priced ink for printers who's use-life was less than 2 years. Coupled with the fact that it seems that every time a new operating system comes out, HP "conveniently" drops support for anything older than 1 year...forcing you to purchase another printer. So, deciding I'd had enough of HP, I went shopping around, and ultimately settled on this printer.

The PRO's:

-----------------

It's a network printer offering Wireless-G compatibility right out of the box! That's great for me, given that I have 5 wired / wireless networked machines at home and I was tired of having to always leave 1 machine on in order to print items.

Setup was a breeze...my 10 year old can do it. Just run the setup utility and follow the directions. Easy-peasy.

Document printing is fast and of better-than-average quality, especially when printing on good stock. Also prints well on glossy brochure stock, though I wouldn't call this a photo printer by any stretch...but then, that's not really what it's for.

Uses 4 separate ink cartridges, so you don't have to shell out $40 when 1 color runs out, which is nice.

Color document printing is great, and speedy.

The CON's:

-----------------

Not the most efficient use of ink. The cartridges are rather small by capacity, and if you want the extended capacity cartridges, forget about buying locally. The larger capacity cartridges are only available online from Epson.

Not for printing color photographs. You're better off uploading your prints to a local Walgreens or AdoramaPix. It's okay for the occasional snapshot print, or school project perhaps...but for printing photos for your albums...forget it. An online printing service is just going to give you better quality prints for less money. Period.

Final Thoughts:

-----------------

Hey, it's a network printer that offers both Cat-5 and Wireless connections, has easy setup, and does very well printing black / white + color documents. If that's all you're looking for, then this is the printer for you. I've been using it for over a year, and it's been a solid performer. It's not for real heavy use, but for the home office, it should more than suffice.

If you want something that can print photographic-quality prints...I suggest you look elsewhere. You're in the wrong price-point for that kind of color-printing accuracy.

"In less than 6 months I now have a new paperweight" 2010-07-13
By Katherine N. Rocha (California, USA)
I bought this printer because the reviews at the time were good, it was small, print quality was decent, and it was relatively cheep. Here's the problem. There is a manufacturing flaw. The chips inside the printer will often think that your ink cartriges are empty when they are not, think they are full when they are empty, and will not register when you have place a new cartrige in the slot. I have spent over $200 in buying cartriges that I thought were bad only to find that the problem was the printer itself.

Buyer Beware. Look into this problem before you consider buying. The cheep price is not worth what you will waste in ink.

"worst printer or any device I ever bought" 2010-06-11
By TJ LA (Inglewood)
I bought this printer in a hurry, my old printer was so old and all my other recent purchases reflected the fast pace of improvement across the board of features in scanners, cameras, etc.

The worst thing about this piece of crap is it takes awhile to see all the problems, so it's too late to take it back. After a couple months:

Constant ink clogs

Constant paper jams

Even when it doesn't jam the image is often tilted, looks unprofessional

Lines appear in photos

Constant head cleanings use up tons of expensive ink

A cartridge stops working but printer doesn't know it - no way to change it unlike every other printer I've owned until you deplete another cartridge.

First printer i ever owned that won't print transparencies??!! I guess making their ink proprietary was a higher priority than printing on film - a-holes!

No more Epson for me. I bet the CEO cut quality and showed a profit on paper and got a big bonus. Then sales drop and he gets fired with a multi-million dollar golden parachute. Go team America!
