 "Lexmark Printer" 2010-08-02

The printer was easy to set up with clear and simple instructions. Printer driver set up was also excellent. I have not tried all the features yet, but the copy and print features are excellent. I like the 5 year warrenty too.

 "No problems so far" 2010-07-29

There are a lot of negative reviews concerning ink usage. I have owned this product for a couple of months now and used up a 500 sheet package of paper and I still have half of the original black ink and the colors are almost full. The trick is to use the quick print option in properties. The drawback is that I have not found a way to set the printer to use quick print every time without having to manually choose it, but the reward is much faster printing and less ink usage. The quality of the quick print looks very good to me. I have had no problems with the wireless function. I have used this printer on a computer with windows XP and now with windows 7 and I have never had a problem with the printer turning itself on from power saver mode. The scan function works good although if you feed the documents through the top loader sometimes two pages get pulled through at the same time. I used the scanner to copy a professional grade photo and the result was as good as the original. I had an HP photosmart that drank ink like crazy even with quick print. I am much more satisfied with this product and it has so many more functions.

 "Too many problems" 2010-07-28
By Daniel Cesark (Torrance, CA United States)
Bought this printer for 4 reasons.

1. I needed a wireless printer

2. The reviews were mostly very positive.

3. The price was right and

4. It included lifetime support.

Now I am seeing reviews that are not so positive and I am about to write one myself. The printer was rather difficult to set up, (wi-fi that is). It stays in standby mode and when you need to print a document, you send the print job to the printer and it turns on and prints, theoretically. In reality this rarely happens. I kept getting error messages saying that the printer wasn't connected or something similar. I had to unplug the machine for 30 seconds and then plug it back in and then it would usually work. There came a time however when nothing worked and I had to call customer service. They went into my computer via remote access and corrected the problem and they were very nice and helpful. BUT. . . . . There is nothing they can do about the incredible rate at which this printer seems to "drink" ink. I purchased an ink cartridge about a month ago and printed conservatively 50-60 pages and my ink is out!!! Say what?!?!?!?! I have never in my life seen an ink cartridge go that fast. I am now in the market for a new printer as I cannot afford to replace my ink cartridge every 50 pages. What a waste of money.

 "printer that doesn't print" 2010-07-28
By J. P. Marker (New York, NY)
If you have a home office and actually depend on your printer, stay away. Every other time I try to print, it tells me there is a connection issue. If I try wirelessly, it looks like it is going to print but never does. Support is fine over the phone but they can't do much about a bad product...

"A real disappointment (thus far)" 2010-07-10
By Steve (Michigan)
My 205 has been an absolute bust so far...from the start the print quality has been awful, and I've had to do many, many 'deep cleans' to try to correct the problem; this laid waste to the ink cartridges. This printer seems to gorge on ink. I performed a firmware update to see if that'll help the ink overuse...we shall see if this will have any effect. I got in touch with Lexmark (their tech support seems very solid) regarding the print problem and they decided that the printhead was defective - they will send a new one with a new set of ink cartridges. Hopefully that'll do the trick. There is also something funky in the way it grabs and shoots the paper out, as it always leave a small crease in the top of every page. On a good note the wireless printing is a great feature, and the machine itself is quite easy to use with intuitive menus. The good points will be even better if I can get this machine to work properly. My first Lexmark printer (from 2006) was an absolute piece of crap and an embarrassment and I'm hoping this 205 wont be a repeat performance. I bought this after hearing that Lexmark got its act together and overhauled their products. All in all I'm regretting this purchase.
