"I Tried 3 and Had Problems With All Of Them" 2010-06-02

I was so excited to get this printer with all the features and how easy I had heard it was to set up. The first printer I had set-up really easy. I had no problems at all. However, it only worked for a week. Then all the keys locked up. I couldn't understand the person I talked to at Custumer Support at all and he had no idea what he was was doing. I took the printer back to the store. The second printer I got the keys were locked up from the get go. So back to the store it went. The 3rd computer couldn't connect to the internet. Back to the store. Needless to say I bought another brand.

"Best printer I own, but..." 2010-06-01

Best printer I own but I wish I didn't have to remove printing paper before I print envelopes. This feature is very inconvenient and can be irritating all the time.

 "Surprised" 2010-05-29
By Philip Sacks (Laguna Woods, Ca. United States)
I bought this unit from Amazon, I am fortunate that is v=can be returned relatively easily.

There is no manual included. HP service told me that the customers don't use the manual, it saves them money.

I tried to scan a document for E mail and the machine error message was it is not orientated to scan documents. HP service had no answers but sa great many questions for me to answer.

The unit would not fax unless hooked up to the internet.

The lower tray is only used to store paper,

Thru Amazon I bought the Brothers MFC-6890CDW. Easy to set up and use

"Up and running in no time" 2010-05-28
By Tod Larson (South Riding, VA)
I had this all-in-one wirelessly connected to my network, printing from 3 different windows 7 computers, scanning to a windows 7 shared drive and sending scans to 3 different email accounts within an hour. HP did a wonderful job of making this thing easy to setup and simply.

The rub is that Windows networking and Norton AV suck the life out of any home project. I had to simply shut off Norton 360 firewall since it always blocks anything I want to do. Then for some reason the shared Win 7 public folders weren't visible by the HP, so I created a new folder in My Documents called "scanning", shared it with "everyone" and then the HP found it instantly.

All my PCs saw the HP on the network and added it just fine and then printed a test page... but windows 7 home group defaulted to share this printer out to the network. Windows isn't smart enough to see that it already is a network printer so no need to doulbe share it.

I think the computer OS should get out of the way and stick to basic networking and allow peripherals like the HP to cleanly share out their services across the network.

This HP is a great device that we also use and abuse at work without any issues.

"Problem with the way they handle low ink" 2010-05-27
By William Hinkle
I have been a loyal HP printer user for years. I understand that there a tad expenses when considering the cost of ink replacement. But I was willing to deal with that problem. But the new way they deal with low ink drive me insane and I think almost putsmy back to the wall to buy ink when they want me to vs. when I want too

The problem resides in the fact that when any of the four inks runs low the printer ceases to copy, scan or fax until the ink has been replaced. The printer will continue to print with low ink but none of the other functions will work. Why do I need all the inks to be present to scan? or fax. Neither functions requires any ink at all.

With this feature makes me feel like my backs against the wall on when to buy. And I truly do not like that feeling.

When this printer dies I will not be buying another HP.
